Caravan Palace - "Self Titled"

Remember the Cantina scene from the original Star Wars, where Han totals Greedo? Remember the band playing background music in that scene? Take that band, send them to Paris, and have them get jumped by a bunch of palieo punks and Django addicts, then brought back to good health by a french house DJ; you might get something close to Caravan Palace.
Combining french gypsy jazz, electronica, swinging punk vibes, raging scats, uptempo beats, good intentions and bad attitudes, its silly just how good this band is. Based in Paris and still fairly underground, these guys are a surreal and fun listen, leaving you feeling dirty... in the best sense possible! I first heard this band when I happened across "So You Think You Can Dance" during one of my rare channel surfing sessions. "Suzy" was scoring an insane dance which included a gas mask, at least 3 back flips, and twitchy/creepy movement... I was hooked instantly!
If you love Django Reinhardt, Gogol Bordello, Kultur Shock, Benoit Cherest, or any of the music from the "Triplets of Belleville" (posted earlier on this very blog!) this band is for you. Hope you enjoy!
